PUNK ROCK/OI
Convicted was around for a long time for a Tallahassee band, 1998-2005. They did some touring and even played CBGB's with Cock Sparrer. The singer Brandon, and guitarist Mike went on to Lucky Scars. For download here I have United Working Class(2000) and the remake(2001) which features rerecorded old songs and a bunch of new ones, and their first EP - Best Of The Best(1999).

Cream Abdul Babar

Cream Abdul Babar was an experimental hardcore/metal band that incorporated a trombone and a keyboard. The first time I saw them they set up tiki torches around the stage, dressed up in tribal shit, and wore face paint, it was awesome. They were around for a long time. They just had another reunion show at the Beta Bar which I forgot about and missed but I'm sure it was awesome. They have a shit load of cds so I'm only posting the one I have, go download the rest. I suggest using Soulseek.

The first time I saw Youtragedy I didn't know who they were or that they were even playing the show. (I think it was Dead To Fall) playing at the Beta and Youtragedy opened the show and fucking owned it. The Singer Britton, was running and jumping on the ground, hanging from the bleachers, and hitting himself with the mic in the head. Needless to say it was fucking sick. Me and my friends looked around at each other like where the hell did these guys come from. The first demo they put out was good, but the next cd they released, Recycled Dance Moves And The Dress Up Parade(A.K.A. InThe Dead Pit Of Old) is what you need to download and listen to first if you have never heard them, it's bad ass. This band had a lot of talent. 2002-2005.

When I went to Sail High School, G.W.P.I. was THE band. The name is short for Guilty When Proven Innocent. They used to have patches that read: OJ was Guilty When Proven Innocent with a picture of OJ Simpson. I know there are tons of old pictures in the hands of some of the kids who went to their shows regularly like just about everyone at Sail did so if you are one of them, cough 'em up. ...And Sometimes I took hardcore and added a splash of thrash and even a little emo. I never really hear/heard that many people talk about this band. I don't know if it is because ANKOAS, Cream Abdul Babar, or one of the other sick Tally bands from the same time frame overshadowed them, or if just not many people ever heard of them. I always liked this band though. Just like most of the other bands on here I used to jam to their demo on a daily basis AND SOMETIMES I still do bust 'em out and jam. Britton the guitarist used to play shows wearing the weirdest shit ever. The first time I saw them they played with ANKOAS and Zegota at "the warehouse" in 2000 and Britton was wearing just a shower cap and boxers. Him and the bassist, Bryan, would later form Youtragedy. The singer, Chris, went to play guitar for My First Step Towards Failure, and the drummer, Andy, later formed The Bark The Bite.

Strateia used to tour with one fifth and Evergreen all the time. They were one of two Christian metalcore bands from Tallahassee. The other was This Day I Die which I have no recordings of. (There may have been more but nothing worth mention I don't think.) They released an EP on Indianola records, which was really good I thought, and then broke up in 2003. The guitarist and the drummer, along with Scott Baker from xOne-Fifthx now play in an Indie-rock band called Slowdance. www.myspace.com/slowdance

They started calling themselves xOne-Fifthx a little while before their split with Evergreen Terrace. This band is one of the few that actually stuck around for a while. They played on the Pigs Is Pigs tour with Evergreen and Strateia. They even played Hellfest 2002, which I had the pleasure of seeing, where they covered Jesus Wasn't Straight Edge But I Am like they often did. Back in the day they used to open for ANKOAS all the time. The singer, Lars, and the bassist, Barndon, formed Kids Like Us.

ANKOAS were crazy as shit, straight up. I saw them play a show naked at the Cow Haus one time. Ex-I Have Dreams. I'm pretty sure that is the same house show on the recording that I saw. I remember Scott Baker's mom wouldn't let anybody mosh. (Pictured is them playing at the Co-op.)

I found this video of Clayton and Allen interviewing people outside of the Poison The Well, Martyr AD, Brothers Keeper, ANKOAS show at the Cow Haus in 2000(which was a fucking amazing show by the way.) I never really liked Brother's Keeper but Poison The Well was insane and so was ANKOAS. I was hoping I would be on here but no luck! I was like 12 or 13 when I saw this show.

I Have Dreams

I Have Dreams was more than a band - in the words of Mike Peters: “It was an attempt to cope with the pain everyone was feeling after Daniel’s death.” They were together for roughly six months, and they broke up in the Spring of 1999. I Have Dreams had a reunion at the new Cow Haus on December 22nd 2001 which was amazing. Mike Peters cried on stage right before the last song. They were selling their cd, "Three Days 'Till Christmas" on a mini-disk which I picked up. They also played another (coincidental) reunion at the Thunderdome when Levy Park All-Stars played with Mike Hanson (solo). Everyone was there except the singers, Alan and Mike. They agreed to play on one condition: no one moshed. Their unique melodic hardcore/emo/metalcore/insanity sound has earned them a worldwide legacy. New Ethic

I never had the original copy of this demo. These three songs have just kinda been floating around for years and thats all they put out. New Ethic is the first of three great bands that shared mostly the same members, the third being ANKOAS. I read the following on some website when I searched for I Have Dreams:
I Have Dreams was born from the ashes of New Ethic, when their guitar player Daniel died in a car accident. New Ethic played their last show in August, 1998 with Daniel’s best friend Mike Hanson in his place, and it was about a month or two later that I Have Dreams started playing. I Have Dreams consisted of Allen Compton and Mike Peters on vocals, Mike Hanson on guitar, Ben Seals on bass and Clayton Rychlick on drums.

I saw the South Florida Music Scene blog with all the rare demos and stuff (which is great so check it out) and decided I should share the stuff I have. If you have something that is not on here hook it up! I am working hard to gather stuff from everyone so please contribute if you can. These are primarily hardcore and punk bands from over the years, but I might throw a few bands from the surrounding areas such as Jacksonville or Gainesville.
